
The VIT School of Law (VITSOL), VIT Chennai, in association with The Hindu is organising a law conclave titled ‘Justice Unplugged: Shaping the Future of Law’, in Chennai on Saturday. This day-long, invite-only conclave will have thought-provoking discussions with some of India’s most distinguished legal minds to explore the emerging challenges and opportunities in the legal profession.
Former Chief Justices of India N.V. Ramana and D.Y. Chandrachud are the chief guest and special guest respectively. C. Aryama Sundaram, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court, is the guest of honour.
The conclave will begin with a welcome address by Suresh Nambath, Editor, The Hindu, followed by the opening remarks of G.V. Selvam, Vice-President, VIT. Thereafter, Mr. Sundaram will deliver a special address before Justice Ramana’s keynote address.
The morning session will feature an engaging conversation between Justice Chandrachud and Mohamed Imranullah S., Deputy Editor, The Hindu.
The first panel discussion post lunch titled ‘The Intersection of Law & Tech: AI, Privacy and Ethics’, will have Senior Counsel Srinath Sridevan, advocate Suhirth Parthasarathy and Rabbiraj C., Dean, VITSOL, engage in a conversation moderated by Nagaraj Nagabushanam, Vice-President of Data & Analytics at The Hindu Group.
The second panel discussion on ‘The Role of Law in a Changing Society’ will feature advocates D. Nagasaila and Shabnam Banu engage in a conversation with E. Prema, Professor of Law & Assistant Dean, VITSOL. The session will be moderated by Ramya Kannan, Chief of Bureau, Tamil Nadu, The Hindu.
Following this, the third panel discussion on ‘Corporate Law & Business Ethics – Navigating Legal Complexities’ will feature a discussion between Senior Counsel N.L. Rajah, advocate Deepika Murali and R. Kesavamoorthy, Professor of Law, VITSOL. Aaratrika Bhaumik, Senior Sub Editor, The Hindu, will moderate the session. She will also moderate the next session, and the final session of the day on ‘Future of Legal Education in India’, featuring Senior Counsel P.R. Raman, advocate Anirudh Krishnan and P.R.L. Rajavenkatesan, Professor of Law, VITSOL.
The event will conclude with a valedictory address by AR.L. Sundaresan, Additional Solicitor General, Madras High Court.
