U.S. Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard’s visit to India highlights the decades-strong U.S.-India relationship, which is bolstered by the friendship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump, a statement said.

Ms. Gabbard was on her first multi-nation trip as the DNI, visiting Hawaii, Japan, Thailand, India, and France.

“Having been born and raised in the Indo-Pacific region, DNI Gabbard brought a nuanced understanding of the area’s crucial partnerships and complex challenges as she explored opportunities to advance President Trump’s America First policies across the Indo-Pacific,” a DNI statement said on Thursday (March 20, 2025).

MS. Gabbard in India held several bilateral engagements, including with Prime Minister Modi.

“This visit highlights the decades-strong U.S.-India relationship that is bolstered by the leadership of and friendship between Prime Minister Modi and President Donald Trump,” the statement said.

“Ms. Gabbard’s meetings in India focused on intelligence-sharing, defence, counterterrorism, and transnational threats,” it said.

Ms. Gabbard also joined the Raisina Dialogue where she delivered keynote remarks on the collective effort to drive toward Mr. Trump’s goals of a peaceful, free, secure, and prosperous society, the statement said.

“Securing peace through strength requires strong leadership with a clear-eyed and realistic understanding of global challenges and opportunities, a commitment to fostering cultural and economic ties that reduce the likelihood of an escalation to conflict, and a dedication to reinforcing mutual interests,” the statement quoted Ms. Gabbard as saying.
