
IHG Hotels and Resorts has a pipeline of 60 hotels, due to open in India in the next three-five years, said Sudeep Jain, Managing Director – South West Asia, IHG. Currently, in India, the global hotel has 47 hotels operating across five brands — Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Resort and Holiday Inn Express, he told newspersons on Wednesday.
In India, IHG has a total of 7,719 keys (rooms). In Tamil Nadu, it has three hotels — all in Chennai — with total keys of 456. The InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram has 105 keys; Holiday Inn Chennai OMR IT Expressway has 202 keys and Holiday Inn Express Chennai OMR Thoraipakkam has 149 keys, he said. IHG plans to open a hotel in Kodaikanal, he added.
On new projects, Jain said it is planned in major tier-I and tier-II cities, religious places and leisure locations. On Thursday, the company will sign a project in Penn in Maharashtra, he added.
Globally, for IHG, India is an important growth market, he said, declining to give any financial details. “We plan to introduce our other brands, including Garner, in a few months,” he added.
