
Seventy-five scholars will be awarded Ph.D. degrees at the fourth convocation of National Sanskrit University (NSU) to be held at Mahathi auditorium in Tirupati on Thursday.
The scholars will receive the degrees from varsity’s Chancellor N. Gopalaswami, former Chief Election Commissioner. Renowned economist V.R. Panchamukhi, who had earlier served as Chancellor of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (earlier version of NSU Tirupati), will be the chief guest.
Addressing a media conference at here on Wednesday, Vice-Chancellor G.S.R. Krishnamurthi said 564 students qualified for graduation this year. Degrees will also be conferred on students from various programmes, including Acharya (Master’s degree), M.A., M.Sc. in Yoga Therapy as well as certificate and diploma courses.
The Vice Chancellor said the Bala Kendras launched by the university to promote Sanskrit had taught spoken Sanskrit to 2,242 children this year by conducting classes during the weekend.
