Some Canadians are calling for Pornhub, which is owned by Montreal-based Aylo, to be banned in the U.S. amid the trade war.
It all started when Canadian comedian Matthew Puzhitsky posted an Instagram Reel skit in which various retaliatory measures against the U.S. are proposed. Eventually, the idea of banning Pornhub in the U.S. is floated, which Puzhitsky quips will quickly “win” the trade war for Canada.
A Change.org petition has also been started to urge Aylo to ban Pornhub in the U.S., although only 841 people (out of an intended 1,000) have signed so far.
It should be noted that Pornhub is only one of Aylo’s big porn divisions, which also include popular sites like RedTube and YouPorn and film studios like Brazzers and Digital Playground. Therefore, Aylo banning its networks in the U.S. would certainly have a big impact, with Pornhub alone accumulating over one billion views per month in the U.S. (This doesn’t even account for the whole country, either, as Pornhub is banned in 17 states due to various state laws.)
That said, it seems practically impossible that Aylo would ever want to do this, given the lucrativeness of the U.S. market. Aylo is also in hot water with the Canadian government for allegedly ” allowing highly sensitive and intimate content to be posted online without individuals’ knowledge or permission.”
