Andhra Pradesh Government is planning to set up a Deeptech university soon to push education and skills in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), according to Minister for Education Nara Lokesh.
Speaking after introducing a bill to amend the Private Universities Act ,in the Assembly, which is intended to incorporate structural changes in the private universities in Amaravati on Tuesday, Lokesh said the NDA Government in the State was in accord with primacy to education.
Stating that the State Government was in the process of inviting a few reputed foreign universities to set up their campuses in Andhra Pradesh, Lokesh said 70 acres of land was already allocated to BITS Pilani for its campus in Amaravati.
To encourage private universities, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Government introduced the first Private Universities Act during its rule in 2016.
Efforts are on to attract other major universities in the country to open their campus in the State, the Minister said while adding that an AI University and Sports University would also be set up in Visakhapatnam in due course.
