ONE EXPENSIVE SEAT, DOUG

So Premier Doug Ford won another majority, albeit by increasing his cabinet by only a single seat. (The Progressive Conservatives won with 80 seats, had 79 when the election was called and took the 2022 election with 83.)
The snap election is said to have cost nearly $200 million. Could he not have found a less pricey chair at Governor General Mary Simon’s place at Rideau Hall?
On the other hand, in a world where someone would pay $6.2 million for a banana duct-taped to an art gallery wall, or in which a prime minister chose to stay in a $6,000-a-night hotel room while in London for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, some might call that Queen’s Park seat a bargain!

OBSCENE GROCERY BILL
Re: Trudeau billed taxpayers $1,515 a week for groceries, records reveal, online, Feb. 28

This obscene expenditure from Justin Trudeau takes the idea of feeling entitled to a whole new level.
Imagine with an average Canadian barely able to feed their family, Trudeau’s taxpayer-funded annual food cost is almost $79,000 a year.
This is just another example of how Trudeau socks it to taxpayers at every turn.

GRETZKY NEEDS TO SPEAK UP
Re: ‘Greatest Canadian’; Trump takes Gretzky off hook and now it’s time for Canada to do same, Joe Warmington column, Feb. 28
I disagree. Donald Trump has threatened Canadian sovereignty and continues to mock Canada, referring to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as a state “governor.”
Worse, Trump has publicly played with the idea of installing Wayne Gretzky as a puppet head of a Canadian state.

If Gretzky disagrees with Trump, he needs to speak up for himself and defend Canada.

SLOW GOING ON OUR STREETS
As if traffic weren’t slowed enough by our recent heavy snowfalls and the resulting banks along the roadsides, why, when transiting from one worksite to another, must front-end loaders (both private and city-owned) and sidewalk plows dawdle along in the fast (left) lane and obstruct the traffic flow even more?
And to the City of Ottawa: When placing your snow removal signs on residential streets, it is wasteful putting one in front of every residence, as I have often seen in Barrhaven.
