A 33-year-old woman, Subarna, from Valuthalaikudi village near Sirkazhi, was found dead near a canal close to her village on Saturday.
Subarna had been married to Nambirajan from the same village for four years, and the couple had two daughters. She went missing from her home two days ago. Her relatives filed a complaint at the Sirkazhi police station, following which a search was launched.
On Saturday, villagers spotted her body near a canal close to Valuthalaikudi and alerted the police. The body was sent to the Sirkazhi Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The police have registered a case of suspicious death and an investigation in on.
