The Guwahati Police on Friday (March 21, 2025) apprehended two key members of a Manipur-based extremist group.

A senior police officer said Meisnam Bungochouba Singh and Techsa Ibomcha Singh, both 42, are key members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group), a Maoist outfit involved in extortion and arms-related crimes in Manipur.

Arms supplier and commander

The former is an arms supplier from the Bishnupur district while the latter, from the Imphal East district, is a senior commander of the outfit and wanted in multiple cases, the police added.

“The two were caught from the Inter-State Bus Terminus by personnel from Garchuk police station,” the officer said and added that the operation was executed based on inputs from the Army’s military intelligence.
