Members of the Rajiv Rahadari Properties Owners Joint Action Committee (JAC) met Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durishetty on Saturday (March 22) and asked him to reconsider the proposed 200-foot road widening and instead limit it to 100 feet to minimise displacement.
JAC Chairman Telukunta Satish Gupta, along with other members, submitted a representation to the Collector expressing concerns over the impact of the road expansion, highlighting that thousands of families could become homeless if the project proceeds as planned. The committee highlighted that a 100-foot widening would be a more practical and less disruptive alternative.
The members also raised issues stemming from the ongoing expansion, stating that several tenants have already been forced to vacate their homes, leading to severe inconvenience. Compounding their difficulties, a recent hike in property tax has placed an additional financial strain on the affected residents. The JAC appealed to the Collector to roll back the tax increase and suspend tax collection until the completion of the widening process.
Additionally, the committee pointed out that the electricity department was pressuring residents to install individual transformers, adding to their financial burden. They urged the collector to intervene and direct the department to halt these demands.
