The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday (March 22, 2025) demolished the house of a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant in south Kashmir’s Anantnag, in a bid “to dismantle terror networks” in the Kashmir Valley.
The police said the property belonged to Haroon Rashid Ganie, son of Abdul Rashid Ganie, a known terrorist handler associated with the banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
“Ganie, operating from Pakistan since 2018, has been implicated in orchestrating terror activities aimed at undermining national security and sovereignty,” the police said.

The J&K Police demolished “an illegally constructed house and plinth at Rekha Hassanpora”, which was on “encroached State land”. The spokesperson described the police action as “a decisive operation”.
The police also released the video of the demolition drive, showing an earthmover bringing down a concrete structure.
“This operation is part of an ongoing campaign to dismantle terror networks and eradicate their support structures,” the police said.
Anantnag police remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding law and order, and ensuring that no individual or group misused government land for unlawful activities, the police said.
The police warned they would carry out more such “strict measures against terror operatives and their facilitators”.
In a separate operation against separatist groups, the police raided the residence of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) member Farooq Ahmad Dar in Turkpora, Handwara, for alleged links to a banned organisation. “Incriminating material [has been] seized and further raids are expected,” the police said.
Separatist leader Shabir Shah’s political party DFP was banned by the Ministry of Home Affairs as an illegal outfit a few years ago.
