Meeting on delimitation is a political drama of DMK: BJP

Staging a black flag protest against the first Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting convened by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in Chennai demanding a “fair delimitation”, BJP Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai dubbed the deliberations a “political drama of the DMK”.

He was protesting near his residence on the outskirts of Chennai. The party staged demonstrations over the meeting across the State.

Addressing reporters, Mr. Annamalai questioned why Mr. Stalin had not raised issues pertaining to dumping of medical waste in Tamil Nadu’s border districts and the Mullaperiyar dam with his counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan, and the proposed construction of a balancing reservoir across Cauvery River at Mekedatu with Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar — both of whom attended the JAC meeting in Chennai on Saturday.

BJP leader and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan also staged a black flag protest in front of her residence.

Poll motive: TMC(M)

Meanwhile TMC (Moopanar) president G.K. Vasan said that the meeting was convened with an intention to divert the attention of the people from law and order issues in Tamil Nadu.

“The meeting was organised with an election motive. The purpose was to confuse the public when several problems have cropped up in the State,” he pointed out.
