Man wanted after stolen car involved in St. Catharines crash

A 38-year-old man is sought after a stolen vehicle was involved in a deadly crash in St. Catharines on Wednesday.

Around 10:20 p.m. on the same night, officers responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Welland Ave. and Ontario St.

Upon arrival, officers determined the stolen black Audi S5 had collided with a grey Chevrolet Malibu.

The driver of the Audi S5 was observed with a head wound as he fled the scene on foot.

The driver of the grey Chevrolet Malibu, a 31-year-old St. Catharines man, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators have since identified Mathew Morris, of St. Catharines, as the suspected carjacker.

Detectives believe potential witnesses were present at the time of the collision and are urging them to come forward.
