Gmail will now use AI to improve search results

Google is rolling out an update to Gmail to improve its search function and have it backed by AI. I’m not sure if I actually want this update, though.

The update will use AI to no longer show emails in only chronological order based on keywords. Gmail search results now factor criteria like how recently you’ve received the email, most-clicked emails and frequent contacts. In a blog post, Google said this should move emails you’re looking for will likely be at the top of your search results.

The new feature is rolling out globally for users with personal Google accounts, and can be accessed on the web, and the Gmail app on Android and iOS. You’ll be able to toggle between “most relevant” and “most recent” results.
