Bengaluru native Satish S. is running with the big dogs, literally. The former breeder claimed to have purchased a rare wolf-dog from the US for a whopping ₹50 Crore three months ago and introduced it at a show recently. The 8-month-old pupper named Cadabom Okami is the fifth-generation descendant of a wolf-dog cross.
“Wolf-dog is a new and very rare breed and you wouldn’t find it even in the records of American Kennel Club. This is the first time a wolf dog is being introduced to the world,” claims Mr. Satish.
Explaining that Okami means ‘alpha’, he says that while the dog’s facial features resemble that of a wolf, it has a friendly and dog-like temperament.

“A direct wolf-dog crossbreed will be very ferocious. Around 20 years ago in The US a rescued wolf and a Caucasian Shepherd were crossed. The wolf died, but its bloodline has continued and Okami is the fifth generation,” he says.
Okami who weighs 75 kg and is 30 inches tall, consumes about 3 kg of chicken daily and lives at Mr. Satish’s farm in Bengaluru.
Serial collector
This isn’t the first time Mr. Satish, who has an eye for rare breeds, has been spending jaw-dropping amounts on dogs. According to him his first rare breed buy was a Korean Mastiff for ₹1 crore.
“I found it after a search of 20 years,” he says.
Mr. Satish then went on to buy an Alaskan Malamute for ₹8 crore, a Tibetan Mastiff for ₹10 crore, and a Caucasian Shepherd for ₹20 crore. Currently he owns around 150 such canines.
But what got him to spend such enormous amounts on puppers?
“I have been crazy about dogs since I was a child,” he says while claiming that he used to take care of around 20 street dogs when he was only a 6-year-old.
“I used to participate in dog shows since I was a class 10 student and would earn an income of ₹10,000 per day,” says Mr. Satish who also claims he had been breeding dogs since he was in college although he stopped it 10 years ago.

The dogs get frequent invitations for celebrity functions, inaugurations, fashion shows, and so on for which Satish charges Rs 2.5 lakh per hour
His investments have not been in vain. The dogs get frequent invitations for celebrity functions, inaugurations, fashion shows and so on for which Mr. Satish charges ₹2.5 lakh per hour.
“I get around 12 invitations every week,” says Mr. Satish, who is now getting ready for another launch next month. According to him, the dog that he is bringing in from Russia next month would be the size of a donkey and brand ambassador for some international luxury brands.
So, does Okami need any special care?
Mr. Satish shrugs.
“Nothing more than the usual food, treatment and care. A dog is a dog at the end of the day.”
