It’s hard to disagree with the “Team Canada” approach of our politicians to Donald Trump’s irrational obsession with tariffs and his ludicrous, pie-in-the-sky 51st state talk and other nonsense. Certainly their ongoing efforts to discuss and reason with American governors, senators, civic and business leaders — and hopefully positive discussions with the more rational members of Trump’s entourage — are commendable. Eventually, these people will see the light and realize the damage to their businesses and communities caused by tariffs and by Trump’s rants and the squandering of goodwill the U.S. has previously enjoyed in Canada and around the world.
Meanwhile, I, and many I speak with, are annoyed by Canada’s failure to correct the many inaccuracies, falsehoods and part-truths Trump continues to spout. Perhaps they are afraid of antagonizing him further, but how can he be any more aggravating or obnoxious? Besides that, by Trump’s own admission, he admired Doug Ford’s strength in standing up to him by imposing his own 25 per cent tariff on Ontario’s electricity exports. So stand up to Bully Donald!

TAKE LONG, HARD LOOK
The Liberals are all excited about their new leader, Mark Carney. Canadians should take a long, hard look at what he did to England and what people in England think of him: not very positive.
Carney has started out as a true Liberal by not being truthful about his past and business dealings.
There is something very wrong with our system when someone can become the prime minister without holding a seat in Parliament and not being voted in by the majority of Canadians.

CARBON TAX CARNEY
The federal Liberals have been a disaster for Canada. Now Prime Minister “Carbon Tax Carney” is trying to pull a fast one on voters by promising to eliminate the carbon tax, when all he will do is hide it and remove the rebates. He’s also planning to continue with the unattainable net-zero carbon emissions goal when Canada only emits about 1.6 per cent of global greenhouse gases anyway.

As has been written in this newspaper, Canada can do more to fight climate change by simply supplying more clean-burning natural gas to other countries.
I can’t fathom why anyone who follows the news would vote for more economic turmoil in the next election.
