Karnataka Bhavan being rebuilt at Varanasi at a cost of ₹36 crore: Ramalinga Reddy

Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Wednesday said the Karnataka Bhavan at Varanasi to enable pilgrims to stay would be rebuilt at an estimated cost of ₹36 crore.

Responding to a question from Janata Dal (Secular) T.A. Sharavana, he told the Legislative Council that the nearly a century-old building constructed by the then Maharaja of Mysore in 1928 had become dilapidated and another nearly four-decade-old building was also not in good condition. “During a recent renovation work at Harishchandra Ghat, the compound collapsed. We want to bring down all the structures and construct a new one,” the Minister said.

Providing an update on the Karnataka Bhavan on Tirumala, Mr. Reddy said 36 VIP rooms and a 500-people capacity choultry were getting ready along with two other blocks while one block has been opened for pilgrims.

Mr. Sharavana also appealed to the government to reintroduce Anna Dasoha at Tirumala so as to help pilgrims from Karnataka, and also complained that there is hardly any maintenance of the new building.
