Coming down heavily on the continued absenteeism of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLAs during the Budget session of the Legislative Assembly,  Speaker Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu said seven of them marked their attendance on different dates like thieves but have not come to the House.

He stated that Y. Bala Nagi Reddy, Thatiparthi Chandrasekhar, R. Matsyalingam, B. Virupakshi, M. Visweswara Raju, Akepati Amarnath Reddy and Dasari Sudha were the YSRCP MLAs who did that and by doing so, they have defeated the purpose of being sent to the Assembly by the people of their constituencies.

Mr. Patrudu said the YSRCP MLAs came to the Assembly for the Governor’s address on February 24 but have since boycotted the proceedings. However, the above MLAs resorted to the unfair practice of signing in the attendance registers and going away.

“What they did was not befitting their stature as the MLAs. I leave it to their conscience to think whether their behaviour was correct”, the Speaker stated.

It may be noted that all the 11 YSRCP MLAs, including Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, kept themselves away from February 25 in protest against the alleged denial of Leader of the Opposition (LoP) status to the former CM.

In this regard, the Speaker had earlier issued a ruling that action would be taken if they did not stop spreading falsehood on Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s claim to be designated as LoP.
