I have, for the most part, had a great deal of respect for Tom Mulcair, but listening to him preach the benefits of having Mark Carney leading this country with the same band of misfits, as opposed to Pierre Poilievre, just shows his upper Laurentian roots. He completely ignores the fact that Carney will, when the time comes, install the same disastrous carbon tax policies as Justin Trudeau, only hiding them from consumers by punishing corporations instead, and this time there will be no rebate cheques.

I understand that Poilievre has never had a great deal of real-life work experience outside of politics, but he assuredly has a better grasp as to what average Canadians are going through than does another elitist who will do nothing to get this country back on track. Mark Carney would have to abandon his core principle on climate change, and that, you can be assured, will never happen, as it would signal that his years spent jet-setting around the world preaching climate prophecy were in vain.

IT’S OUR DISGRACE

The demise of the Hudson’s Bay Company is our disgrace.

Our oldest business started centuries ago, trading furs with the Indigenous people.

Our government has allowed American stores to move here and squeeze all our Canadian stores out of business. Our stores sold higher-quality goods and we watched them disappear.

No wonder Donald Trump thinks we are his to take. Shame on us.

PHONEY OUTRAGE

Loud protests by the Canadian government concerning U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs do not ring true. Justin Trudeau’s carbon taxes were nothing less than an internal tariff on our everything.

A rose by any other name would stink the same.

OTTAWA

MY MY, HEY HEY

He’s finally gone, the fancy socks and phoney façade. The talking in circles and holier than thou self-righteousness. The smug dismissal of a question from a non-CBC reporter. Almost 10 years of deficit spending with the added, “But I’m saving the planet” line implied! Countless non-investigated scandals. The destruction of a once-great nation’s economy with his Liberal cabinet nodding and applauding.

Canadian singer/songwriter Neil Young said it best: “Once you’re gone, you can never come back.”
