Telangana budget for the financial year 2025-26 was presented in the Assembly on Wednesday (March 19, 2025).
The 2025-26 budget allocation for Telangana Minority Welfare department saw a significant increase compared to last year [2024-25], with the government allocating ₹3,591 crore. The allocation in financial year 2024-25 stood at ₹2,997.01 crore, marking a substantial increase of ₹593 crore.
“Our government is committed to ensuring the security and welfare of minorities in the State,” said Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu in his budget speech.

He later underscored that youth from minority communities would be allocated ₹840 crore under the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme, which aims to provide them with self-employment opportunities.
Integration of TMREIS with YIRS
Also in the offing is the integration of schools under the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMREIS) with the recently-founded Young India Residential Schools (YIRS).
At a foundation stone-laying ceremony in Kondurg on October 11 last year, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had pointed out, “Separation of SC, ST, BC, and minorities will poison students’ minds. It is for this reason the government is establishing Integrated Residential Schools so that poor students from all sections study together regardless of their caste and religion,” he said.
However, officials clarified to The Hindu that this integration does not mean a merger of TMREIS schools with YIRS. Rather, TMREIS schools operating from rented premises would be relocated to integrated school complexes. “At some places, where TMREIS does not have its own school buildings, one block in the integrated schools will be given to us. This way, they will share libraries, playgrounds, and other common facilities, with other students belonging to other communities. There will be common areas which all students can use,” a senior official said. The YIRS will also not impact the schools built for TMREIS under the Multi-Sectoral Development Plan.
