Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi met with general secretaries and leadership from the states on Tuesday to find ways to strengthen the district Congress committees (DCCs).
Sources said the top brass of the party discussed a report by Mukul Wasnik on empowering the DCCs. Some key suggestions included consulting DCCs on important political developments, five-year terms for DCC presidents, not allowing DCC chiefs to contest elections for three years, and so on.
Senior leaders who attended the meeting included general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal, party treasurer Ajay Maken, and general secretaries Bhupesh Baghel, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Jairam Ramesh, Randeep Surjewala, and Sachin Pilot among others.
