The Jubilee Hills police arrested a burglar who allegedly broke into the residence of Mahabubnagar Member of Parliament D.K. Aruna.

The accused, identified as Mohammed Akram, a 48-year-old tile-setter from Aman Nagar-B, Hyderabad, was apprehended near his residence following an intensive search operation. Several items were seized from him, including a hammer, screwdrivers, cutter, locks and keys, a mobile phone and the clothes and shoes he had worn during the burglary.

Investigation revealed that Mr. Akram had a history of involvement in similar offences with at least 17 cases booked against him in Delhi between 2017-2024.

The incident came into light following a complaint filed by the MP’s driver. Eight teams from the West Zone were deployed to track down the suspect.

The incident was reported on the intervening night of March 15 and 16. While the complainant was asleep in the driver’s room on the first floor, he was awakened by a noise at approximately 3:50 a.m. However, upon inspection, no one was found. At around 6:00 a.m., a review of the CCTV footage revealed that an unidentified man wearing a mask had entered the premises by scaling a wall. He had reportedly broken a kitchen window on the first floor to gain access, cut off the CCTV wiring, and lingered inside the house for some time before escaping.
