Cops say the victim was walking to his car when he was approached by a thug with a firearm on Saturday around 8:30 p.m. in a plaza parking lot in the Yonge St.-Steeles Ave. area.

Police say the suspect demanded keys to the vehicle and the victim complied. There was a struggle when the suspect got into the driver’s seat.

The carjacker fled on foot and got into a dark-coloured SUV, believed to be occupied by a get-away driver who took off. The victim was not injured.

The carjacker is described as a Black male, aged 20 to 25-years-old, who wore black clothing, and a cloth mask over his face.

Police say a gun recovered at the scene was determined to be a replica firearm.

Officers urged anyone with information to call 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6630.
