Calgary Sun Letters to the Editor for Monday, March 17, 2025

I was thinking about the CBC, Canadian Press, Toronto Star etc that lean hard towards the left. You could argue the Sun chain of newspapers are centrist- right leaning. If it’s an opinion piece or editorial, that’s fine. But, I think journalists reporting the news should be vetted like a jury selection process. If you can’t report  impartially, you’re not needed.

(Couldn’t agree more. Our team is always striving to find the facts, and only the facts.)

Be friendly to Alberta

Mark Carney who grew up in Edmonton says he is representing “Alberta” in his Cabinet. If this is true, Prime Minister Carney can show he really supports Alberta by immediately announcing his Government of Canada will build a “Canadian Pipeline” from Alberta to Tidewater, New Brunswick. Alberta, and Canada for that matter, needs to sell both oil and natural gas to Europe. If the Prime Minister does nothing in March, we will know he is an April Fool, who is a Liberal in sheep’s clothing and absolutely NO friend of Alberta!

(Only time will tell how friendly a Carney government will be to Alberta.)

Where’s my tax break?

The news is that  Mark Carney was cancelling the carbon tax. Driving in southwest Calgary this afternoon, all the gas stations posted prices were exactly the same as yesterday. Gas retailers keep the status quo, and the consumers don’t get a break!

Owen Robertson.

(If only we could boycott the gas stations that aren’t passing along the savings.)

What’s the plan, Carney?

Prime Minister Mark Carney signed an Order-in-Council to remove the consumer portion of the Carbon Tax for sixty days. What is Carney going to do on day sixty-one?

(Hopefully we are well into an election by then.)

Same dung, different pile

Now that the Liberal Party has decided who our Prime Minister is I have to ask, are we finally going to get to see the details of the slush flush fund they’ve been hiding from us? After all, isn’t that the main reason we’ve been putting up with farce of a federal government for the past several months and why they prorogued parliament in the first place? Justin may have resigned but putting a new shade of lipstick on that pig doesn’t change the fact that they don’t want to own up to their shady actions!

John Hancock

(Admit they did something wrong? Never!)
