GoPro has been a byword for action cameras since it was founded in 2002. Since then it’s gone from making “re-usable wrist cameras” (as it called its first Hero camera) to building rugged social media workhorses such as its Hero Black range.

Smartphones may now be incredibly capable video cameras, but GoPros remain indispensable for anyone who needs a near-indestructible stunt double for their iPhone or Android phone. GoPro has even started dabbling in cameras for FPV (first-person view) drones with its first Bones model.
